ok so here is the deal-e-o!

i purchased a panasonic pt-53wx53 widescreen HDTV. to add to my audio pleasure i enhanced the tv by adding a yamaha rxv-2400 a/v receiver.

these receiver powers a 5.1 martin logan surround speaker system.

now the only thing that stands between me and my home audio enjoyment is giving all these devices a home (i need a new stand to fit all the goodies) and giving them a means of talking to each other (i need to buy some speaker wires/cables).

so my bud that works at circuit city has these cables he wants to give to me for free or a super discount price: http://www.monstercable.com/thx/productPageTHX.asp?pin=1712

now i figure hey free cable why the hell not but he only has one set of 20ft cable. if i use this wire i will want to keep the same wire used throughout the whole system for consistency. but i dont want ot shell out that much money. so what would u guys do take the cable and buy 14gauge wire by the spoolful at home depot to cover the other speakers or shell out the extra dough for all the speakers?

thanks :smokin:

Sheesh!
At $150 for 20ft, if you get 'em for free, why not? That's if you really need 20ft.

But... I read that these cables have an 'Advanced Time Correction' doohickey and a 'Magnetic Flux Capacitor' !!! :rofl2:

Oops sorry... wrong movie!

Get the cables for free... sell 'em and use the money for a 50ft of 12 AWG speaker wire at Home Depot and buy beer with $125 left over!

I agree, buy a 100' spool of 12 gauge two conductor wire at Home Depot to use for all the speakers and sell the "flux capacitor" cable.

See the FAQ on "Cables & Connections".

ok here i am again askign about cables :rofl2:
so i got the green light that i can get some monster cables at a pretty good price. now i havet been able to find the stuff that i need at this price and at "good or better than i have now quality". so you think spending 200+ bucks oin these cables is a bit crazy or you think i can still do better? i have searched all the other sites like bettercables and blue jean cables. anyone else know if they can match this?

For most of the cables 60% off is a good price, but for the component cables that you have listed, I wouldnt consider that a good price.

QUANTITY ITEM MODEL RETAIL
1 10 ft. GameLink 400 X Component Video XGL400 CVAA-10 59.95
1 10 ft. GameLink Lightwave 100 XLW100K FO-10 34.95
1 4 ft. Component Video Cable ULT V1000 CV-4 $99.95
1 8 ft. Component Video Cable ULT V1000 CV-8 $129.95
1 4 ft. Digital Coaxial Cable THX I100 DCX-4 $19.95
1 4 ft. Digital Fiber Optic Cable THX I100 FO-4 $19.95
1 16 ft. Subwoofer Cable with RCA ULT SUB1000-16 $79.95
1 10 ft. pair - with Monster Bananas ULT S1000-10/10 $99.95
1 10 ft. single with Monster Bananas ULT S1000C-10 $49.95

Grand Total = $594.55
After 60% discount = 594.55 - 356.73 = $237.82 You are spending roughly $100 for speaker wire. One set is missing, but I assume that's the "free" one you mentioned earlier.

You're spending $100 for two component cables - not a "bad" price, but not the best price...

The other items are too minor to worry about.

If you feel comfortable with this, go for it.

yeah i figured im getting a good deal othe the xbox cables and spekaer wire but im bending over for the component cables......i could buy then next step down and cables and save a whole helluva lot of dough but havent decided if i shoul dcheap out on it yet. the next step down woul dbe like half the price listed and at 60% would mean a very happy thing for my wallet.
