I called Dish this morning at 11:30. I was told that I am an exclusive member, and entilted to an 811 receiver for $149, no committment or delivery charges. however I can not order until tomorrow. I confirmed this with 2 seperate CSR's. I have been a subscriber for 5+ years, I don't know what makes one exclusive. I was also told that it will arrive in 5-7 business days ARO. Well keep you informed tomorrow.

Interesting. I was told that the promotions were for new customers only. That promotions for existing customers would be out soon. Talked to Dish 5 minutes ago.
Here's all I can find on their site:

Kevin that is correct. It did take me a while to get to the right person. I got sent to a retailer as "they are the only ones who can service existing customers". After talking to 2 different retailers, I was sent back to dish, asked for a supervisor, and was given the information. Dish did tell me I would need to have the 811 installed. I don't know what they mean by this as I have satellites looking at all 3 birds (110, 119, & 61.5), as well as OTA rooftop antenna, but if they want to come and install, that is fine with me.
Ok, I can call tomorrow and order the 811 from Dish direct, $199. Geez, I had to pry it out of him.
My 501 I bought direct, my other two receivers came from my dealer.
This is close to a quote. We can get 4 HD channels on our existing Dish 500 antenna. If we want the additional channels we need to do the SuperDish. I guess we should have a separate thead for SuperDish if we don't have one already.
Wouldn't it be nice to get the whole story in one piece without having to go all over the place.
My dealer says they won't have any info until after the end of the year. They are not a big Dish dealer so maybe they are not pushing for information. ?
Kevin, interesting link.

edit: one thought, the Dish rep did ask me to hold for a minute, it was about 15 seconds. When he came back he did tell me to call tomorrow. Maybe they 'know' and are not supposed to tell us anything until tomorrow. Supervisor probably looking over his shoulder. ??

I think us DISHPLAN people have a chance at the $199 deal. I will let you know. I have the name of a Customer Resolution Specilaist. He e- mailed me about the 6000 deal. I am going to try and work it for the 811.

Regarding the Super Dish, I do not think you need one. From what I understand the the HD channels will be on the 110 and 61.5 From a DISH press release, care of the SateliteGuys.com
HD on 110 Orbital Location: In addition to the changes listed above,
customers no longer need a SuperDISH to receive HD programming. The
HD Pak, available for $9.99 per month, will continue to be located at the
110 orbital location which includes: HDNet, HDNet Movies, Discovery HD
Theater and ESPN HD. The following additional HD programming is
currently located at the 61.5 and 148 orbital locations and will require an
additional dish: Showtime HDTV, DISH HDTV, HBO HDTV, CBS HDTV
East & West, HD Event Channel and HD Demo Channel. Stay tuned for
details regarding future HD programming availability on the 110 orbital
location.
Ok, 3am Pacific. Called Dish and got the word.
Existing customers. $149 with a 1 year commitment. This is as an add on or exchange of receivers. I guess the only difference is they have to run another cable if its an add on.
New customers, basically free with a 1 year commitment. $49 activation that they credit back. Can be mixed in with the other packages. Like an 811 and a 301 etc etc.......
The 110 sat has all the HD except for HBO HD and SHO HD, maybe CBS, I can't recall. I suffer from advanced CRS.

edit: One thing I should mention, they did check my account to see if I was eligible for the upgrade.

I too, jus ordered one for 149.00 with no commitment. I was at first told it was 199.00 but I was persistent and after CSR double-checked she came back with the 149.00. It will be installed on Saturday AM. Now, what to do with a 2 week old 6000?

I called Dish earlier and she could only offer it to me for $199.99 with a one year commitment. I think the $149.99 price is something that is offered to long time customers??? The CSR couldn't tell me exactly, but thats the feeling I got. I guess my 2-1/2 years with Dish isn't long enough. Maybe I'll call later and push a little more.

Just ordered my 811 for $149/ I am a DISHPLAN subscriber. The 811 will be a purchase instead of a rental. They will be billing to my monthly bill.
1 year commitment required. In addition I will be adding the 9.99 HD package.
I did talk talk to a CSR who said that DISHPLAN subscribers are not eligible. I then talked to a contact at DISH in Customer Resolution. The gentlemen is well aware that his name has been posted on various websights.
If you find that you can not get satisfaction through regular channels PM for his Email.
Now, what to do with a 2 week old 6000
I think the street value of a Dish 6000 just took a tumble :)
Door stop comes to mind. I have a shelf in my garage devoted to 'door stops'. :D

I have an install date of 12-9-03 Tuesday. I had to pay $199.99 because I have only been with dish for 6 months. They said you have to be with dish for at least a year.

Oredred a 3 room system from local dealer - 811 & 2 301s. No charge for a two year commitment.
Will have installed next week - both dish and antenna.

My install date is 12/13/03 and I had to pay $199 also. I had to go through 3 people to get the $199 (even with being a 3.5 year customer on credit card autopay!!) Can't wait to see what my HDTV can do!!!

Hey Lee S, first bid on Ebay for my 6000 was 250.00. Not only paid for my 811, almost paid off the 6000 I got for 149.00 3 weeks ago. Gotta love those Ebay'rs

Great! You must have heeded the advice in the following quote:

I wonder who said that? :D
I see that Kevinw has a nice OTA tuner up on EBay too. Great piece and price for someone wanting to get into HD OTA. Just add a $22 Radio Shack antenna (in most cases), mast, some coax, possibly a rotor and a couple of drip loops and you're good to go. :)

Yes, it is working out well. Just over 300.00 now so both receivers are paid for. Now if it will just go up some more so that I don't have to take out a 2nd mortgage to buy the DVI cable

Just wondering if anyone tried upgrading to the 811 that is under the Digital Home Plan. I just got off the phone with a rep. and she said that the offer of 149.99 is for all accounts except for the digital home plan. Unfortunately, that's what i've been under for the past 1.5 years. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks !!
