I live just on the Illinois side of St. louis mo. in the 62095 zip code. According to the antenna web.org, all of my local channels are between 208 and 216 degrees. Therefore, I split the difference and have my 30$ Radio Shack antenna set at 212 degrees. This seems to work perfect for all of the stations except cbs(which is at 208). On CBS I get a perfect picture at all times, but lose audio momentarily every five or ten minutes. Anyway, my question is whether a more expensive directional antenna(say the 100$ with over twice the UHF range) will help me out. Or wether more power in the same direction won't help at all because this is a problem due to the distance between the different azmiths and not the distance from my house.
What happens when you point the antenna a little to the left to favor the CBS station? Does it clear up the audio? Might be a problem with CBS and not your setup.
Give it a try.
When setting up my antenna I seemed to remember losing video when adjusting my antenna, could have been audio and video but not the audio first (as I recall).
This FAQ has directions on how to find the distance to the various transmitters in your area: http://www.hdtvoice.com/voice/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6514
Might be interesting to see the distances before talking about a new antenna. What is the model of the one you have? How long is the coax run? Where is the antenna mounted (roof or attic)?

Kevin or Mike, could you move this to the OTA forum? Thanks
