After Reading some threads about movies on D-VHS I would love to see one of these so called Hi Def Movie Transfers on the 61"
Is there even a model that would hook up to the KDE-61XBR950???? Digitally??
If so would that be the best you could get
for movies??
That would really show you what the plasma can do considering the price you pay for big fat cash cow!!
I mean HD DVD's are not even made yet
until the new 28gig disc format ( i think)
HD = 1hr show = 10gig
somewhat like editing mini-DV on iMovie
Just checking with the experts!!
Thanx Again,
CLA
I believe the output on the D-VHS machines is component video, not that there's anything wrong with that, especially at over 28 Mb/sec on manufactured D-VHS movies.
(HD is "transmitted" at 19.4 or so Mb/sec OTA or Cable, slightly lower on Sat).

If not hooked up via Firewire or DVI
isnt the whole D-VHS thing pointless??
Thanx

Not at all. The input is firewire, the output is CV. There is absolutely nothing "inferior" about component video connections. See the FAQ on "DVI connections".
(Yes, there is a slight difference on fixed pixel displays due to A/D conversion, but that's done all the time without significant signal degredation.)

you can only hookup the D-VHS player via firewire for recording purposes but just for watchin movies the component output will do the same just fine.... by the way i just noticed how much the 61incher is priced HOLY ****.... you could have got the monster of all monster RPTV's with the price you paid check this out....
