Hi-
I have faint visible horizontal scan lines on my KV32XBR450 in full screen mode (non-component inputs). I have had the comb filter replaced with no success and Sony told my repairman that is standard on that model. Does anyone else have this problem?
Also, Does anyone know how to make a red push attenuator for my component video cables? Any reply would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Matt

I have the KV34HS510 model, and I also notice a red horizontal scan line while watching HD on Cable. The line does not appear when watching either DirecTV or DVD...just cable. I've wanted to call Cablevision and ask them to send a tech out, but don't think they know what I'd be talking about.

Cobra: It could be your HD input/circuitry on your TV, not necessarily the cable...

DVD players and SD DirecTV would use different inputs/circuitry.

Does the issue go away when watching SD cable? Do you watch SD Cable on the same input as HD or via a separate connection? This may help you track down whether the issue is with cable or the TV.

I'm not very smart when it comes to this, so please be patient with me...

I switched the component jacks of the DVD player and my HD cable box. In each case, the scan line only appears on the video input being used by my HD cable box.

cobra, I have the same set, and the same problem. I called Sony tech support, and they said it was a known issue. They gave me the name and numbers of a couple of local authorized repair centers (Boston area), and they were able to get a tech out here this morning to check it out. He tried to call Sony while he was here (to get their authorization for the part), but the hold time was going to be an hour. He said he's seen the problem before, and something about it being the "B" board, which he had to order. I'll find out in a week+ if the fix works. I'll post the results here.

Hey...thanks a ton! Please let me know what's going on, so I can possibly take the same actions. The tv is only 3 months old!!!!

Well, I finally heard from my service tech today, and they now tell me that Sony says there is no known issue with that set, so the tech says they have to bring it in to the shop to diagnose. :( At their current workload, I'll be without my set for 2-3 WEEKS! I'm going on vacation next month for 10 days, so I asked if we could wait til then, and he said sure. Hopefully I can get in the schedule early and it will be fixed while I'm gone.

...but I finally got my set back. The shop picked it up on March 10, and I got it back April 6. According to the work order, it was the B Board that was replaced (under warranty), and it seems to have fixed the red horizontally-moving vertical scan line. Just in time for the NHL playoffs. :)
