I have a 42" Vega and I got into the service mode but there is about 100 different options in there and I cnat find anything about what they are I found one manual but that was for a XBR not a grand vega. Also if I could get some ides on things I should check to make sure pic is good. I ran the DVE DVD and it seems my tv is setup perfect the overscan is at 2% all around and the colors are perfect. Its just regular TV has a BLUR effect to it and I dont have Mild Mode on. I have checked everything the DRC and all that. DVD and everything else lookssuper crisp.

Standard analog tv does not look good on most HD tv's. It even looks worse after seeing a good picture like a DVD or HD programming.
You are also looking at a larger screen that maginifies the imperfections. Garbage in Garbage out.

ditto to what kevin said anything thats just SD on your tv now is not going to look as good as when you had a smaller direct view all your seeing is the imperfections in the picture..... nothing in my opinion you can do about that to make it look any better...

Hey one more ? I have all sony equipment in my house my DVD and my DSS and my ES Receiver is it worth the $$$ toget the sony combo for DSS and HDTV OTA for 600 or just get the Samsung HDTV for 300? My DSS box I have now is the A20 it has only svideo out but it does have the Fiber Optic out for audio. I dont think I will ever get DSS HDTV though.

You might want to check out Cox Cable. They have HD service and you can rent the HD converter.

Regular channels look bad off of a OTA and through cable. However are you guys seeing a degraded signal from digital like Satallite? I am getting pixels when the pictures moves or getts really bright. I don't know if this is the tv or signal. (my sat sig says it is 100%.

Help.

Sorry to hear you think OTA and/or cable hdtv looks crappy in your area but i hate to tell you its not like that everywhere. At bestbuy all they had was a indoor hdtv antenna hooked up to the sony 50" WEGA and it looked amazing CBS NBC FOX and we have a pbs multicast channel that is on a 5 hour loop of 1080I Videos of like nautre stuff it was jaw dropping to say the least. When the hell are they gonna make HDTV DVD dammit : )
