Ok, Here goes... I have a Sony 34XBR with Directv and the Samsung Hidef receiver connected via DVI connection... when watching hockey on hdnet the scoreboard on the left hand side is half cutoff and when I move the screen to the right to see it, I notice that if I put on DiscoveryHD that the logo in the bottom right is now cutoff a bit......

My question is, is there anything in the service menu that allows me to compress the picture a bit, or shrink it in from left and right into the middle? I think I am wider than I should be for the channels with HD content......

Sounds like you may have a little too much "overscan". You may be able to test this with a setup DVD - see the FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV". However, each input may have it's own adjustment for overscan, so if you set up the DVD input, the DVI may not be affected. Depends on whether these settings are "global" or not and I'm not familiar enough with your TV to know.

You may wish to simply call for service to correct this situation, but perhaps check using the DVD first.

Does the same problem exist if you use component video connection from the STB?

I'm not sure how overscan is adjusted on a Direct View TV either... Hope I've been some help.

How are you "moving the screen" to the right? I have the same TV, but a different receiver. I'll try to help if I can. Will the screen modes on your receiver not correct the problem? I find I have to adjust them with some regularity, depending on what I am watching.
