Has anybody had this happen in their area? Our local CBS affiliate
has bailed on providing HD programming to our local Cox cable.
I have called and left messages to the program manager how disappointed I was to hear this. This technology is too new to be jacking around with. Their programming isn't that special that I would watch it non HD rather than another program in HD. HD looks and sounds so much better I have even got my wife to watch Monday night Football! Cox had better be careful that if the other local affiliates bail we will be looking for a dish. I have not priced another STB and a terrestial ant. but CBS programming, even the Super Bowl just isn't worth it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you,

I think you may find that there never was a local agreement to broadcast the CBS HD signal and negotiations may have hit a stalemate or otherwise broken down, hence the station was pulled. I seem to recall another post recently saying the same thing, but I don't remember the locale or network, could have been the same one.

The problem is that cableco's have to obtain broadcast rights for locals. Cable usually isn't willing to pay extra for HD and stations are looking for some kind of revenue stream to pay for the upgrades. Your guess is as good as anyone's as to what happened and how long it will last. If you find anything out, please let us know as similar things may happen elsewhere if temporary agreements are in place while negotiations move forward (or don't).
