Just took the plunge on the KV34HS510. The picture is great, but I have two questions:
1. The picture takes about 3-4 seconds to turn on (sound comes on before picture); and,
2. Picture is tilted on 0 setting and is not completely even unless tilt correction is on 5 or 6.
Is this normal???? Am I headed for any problems???
Please impart your wisdom...I just want to enjoy my purchase without worrying.
Thanks.

That's exactly like my TV. I've had it for 2 months now, no problems so far.

Which part? Both?
Actually, the TV is taking about 7-10 seconds to turn on. I called Sony and they said it is normal. Do you really think that it should take that long for the picture to turn on? I just want to enjoy my new TV with no worries....thoughts.
Thanks.

my guess is because the TV deguasses (demagnetizes) first when you turn it on, and then the picture comes on. i have a similar model and it does the same thing. i wouldn't sweat it.
as for the tilt correction, if you are able to straighten it out with the tilt correction, then again don't sweat it. that's what the correction is for.
it's a great TV. just sit back, relax and enjoy!

I have the same TV...similar comments to the above.
Also, has anyone noticed this; I see a slight 'bending" near the top of the screen, For example, while watching a program, wait until you see something, maybe a graphic, with a straight line. I notice that the line bends down a bit in the upper left cormer and upper right corner.
Only noticeable to me....family has never mentioned it. Not that noticeable anyway unless you have staright edge graphics near the top of the screen a lot.

Thanks for the reassurances. It really is one nice looking picture. We watched Finding Nemo when we first got it Saturday and it was mesmerizing. My wife and I were gawking at the vivid colors and crisp picture. Lord of the Rings was amazing on it as well.
To those who replied, does it take the 7 to 10 secs to turn on that mine does or less? Yeah, I am a worry wart about electronics.
By the way, I notice the bending too, but only on settings like wide zoom. Unfortunately, Comcast ran out of boxes (amazing, considering they only need two things to run the company...cables and boxes), so we are still on analog signal. My wife has not really noticed the bending and doesn't detract from the overall picture to me.

i also notice the slight bend on the right hand side. i see it, it's minor, and of course no one else sees it but me. damn this trained eye of mine!

Just got my KV-34HS510 installed on Saturday (but not yet setup by TWC) and yep, it takes about 5 seconds to bring up a picture. This is a bit off topic, but I have to say that the picture quality on the analog SD input that I've watched is fabulous even in the wide modes. Can't wait to get the HD box setup and see what this puppy can really do!

Another "Me too" post. My KV34HS510 takes 5 secs or so to show a picture (never actually timed it) and I also had to correct the tilt by about 6. I don't notice any bending at the corners, though.
goblue7, Usedoats, you're gonna love the HD picture. Truely amazing!

Yep, the HD picture quality is freaking amazing!
But now that I've got the Hi-Def STB the Standard Def quality is much poorer; gotta try to figure this out.

usedoats, for watching SDTV, don't use the component/hd output. use the s-video or composite output. that should dramatically improve your "regular" tv picture

Keith...thanks for the tip! I just added an S-video to input 3...looks much better. But, using that setup, I cannot access my onscreen menus or program info. I guess that's a small price to pay for a better picture!
