My new and first WS HDTV just got deliverd, but I have a question... Which component should do the stretching of the picture, the cable box (pioneer 3500HD from TWC) which has an option or the Television... Both seem to look about the same, but i didn't know if there was a "best" way to do it...

There is no right or wrong way, best is whatever looks best to you. Many TVs do a better job than boxes, but that has more to do with how old one or the other is as newer models of almost everything tend to be better.
TVs are usually better, since they also have a stretch mode specifically designed for 4:3 stretch in a non-linear fashion. Use whichever you prefer. See the FAQ on "Widescreen Stretch Modes".
