I'm sitting here watching Philly and Carolina battle it out with no booth announcer audio. The on field audio is fine, as is the video, but I can't hear the announcers. I'm watching the digital FOX 2.1 channel here in the San Francisco bay area. If I switch to DirecTV or the analog roof antenna signal, I can hear them.

I called my Dad in Florida and he can hear the booth announcers just fine on his 36.1 feed. This is ridiculous. FOX just doesn't get HD. As far as I'm concerned there's only two things wrong with FOX, the audio and the video.

Anybody else pixxed off?

Audio and video (480P widescreen) are fine from Detroit. Must be your affiliate.

My feed was fine in NY. Actually, the game was my first Fox ED/WS game and I was pleasently surprised has good the quality was. I did have to messa round with the format/stretch mode to get full widescreen with no distortoriton. I found using my STB's conversion from 480p to 720p made the picture perfect. I use a Highes HTL-HD and a Toshiba HDX82 tv, that can accept 720p signals.

WOW upconvert from 480p to 720p to 1080i ..
Odd you had to stretch your widescreen picture,
since it was broadcast in widescreen??
We had our choice in Atlanta WS or reg..picture was not nearly as good as CBS 1080i

The second half was fine, especially the part where the Eagles lost. :)

But the first half was a total disaster. Not the first time Fox has messed up. One would think that on the biggest day in Pro Football, an HD showcase, that someone at Fox or the affiliate would notice the problem and reboot whatever needed rebooting.

Kevinw,

When I watched the game with my receiver set to auto DVI and the TV on natural, I saw a 4:3 image, but the image was letterboxed, so I had black bars on the sides and grey bars on the top/bottom, just like I would on a 4:3 TV. If I switched the STB to 720p output then the picture was enlarged perfectly with no distoration or bars. With a 720p source, my TV doesn't let me change the aspect ratio at all.

I got basically the same result leaving the source at 480p and using the TV's theaterwide 2 (might have been 3) setting, but that seems to crop a tiny bit of the top and bottom of the picture.

In my area, FOX's ED signal is broadcast for whatever reason in 720p. The only thing I can do is change my HD200 to convert that to 1080i, which sometimes looks better on my set. The wide modes on the TV are disabled due to the 720p broadcast. I see a full, widescreen image with no distortion.

But I couldn't hear the announcers. :(
