thats a good article but i don't get the too expensive/delicate thoughts for the cameras. good argument is if discovery can show some of there shows in hd so can other networks. that i think is a weak arguement especially the two shows that were cited survivor and simple life. they could use hd cameras on such shows in my humble opinion.

Turned out CBS and NBC had the State of the Union in HD (don't know about ABC since they're not on my cable). Good pictures, at least.

CBS and NBC were in HD in my market but ABC started in SD and switched to HD in the middle of the speech. I called the station and they said their HD satellite feed was not there. Did this happen in any other areas? I am in Tri-Cities, TN-VA.

ABC was HD from the start in Detroit. Must have been an issue with your affiliate.

I saw george's speech in 16:9 HD on all three networks here in Boston and the pictures were very good. However, when the netwoks aired the Democratic response a short time afterward, only ABC and NBC carried in in HD, CBS, or at least our CBS owned station WBZ, chose to carry the remarks in 4:3 SD.
Wondering if the conventions this summer will be in HD as well. We've got the Democrats right here in Boston.
