What's the story with StarzHD. We just got it here in Boston and I'm very disappointed. 99% of the content is just upconverted 4:3 movies. All of the other premium movie channels display their films in the original aspect ratio so why is it that starz does not. Even recent fims like Gangs of New York are being displayed 4:3. Dont they realize that if people are subscribing to their HD channel they have widescreen HD tv's? What a waste.

So you assume everybody who has an HDTV has a 16:9 widescreen tv?? How egotistical!! My HDTV is a 4:3 tube tv, so I like the 4:3 movies.

True, some people do have 4:3 HD tv's, but even so, wouldn't you prefer to see these films in their original aspect ratio as the director intended? Yes, a 4:3 television would need to display black bars on the top and bottom of the image, buy you would be seeing the film as it appeared in theaters.

D-Rock0030 i dont think your understanding all HD is widescreen so if your watching something on your HDTV and it fills the whole screen then you aint watchin HD plain and simple... plus why would you want to watch a movie that has been formatted to fit your screen thats not the way the director intended you to see it....

I do understand that all HD signal is 16:9, but my HDTV isnt 16:9 its 4:3. I just have a 32" Pan. Tube tv. I have a small apartment and a bigger projection or lcd tv would be way too big. My couch is only like 7-8 feet from the screen at most. I like watching widescreen content. I just thought it was conceited of him to be complaining when not everybody has 16:9 HDTV's. I was just giving him a hard time, messing around. And that StarzHD channel not everying thing is in true HD. The movies that are shown 4:3 probably havent been remastered in true HD resolutions.

I, for one, can't stand the fact that STARZ isn't broadcasting their content in HD WIDESCREEN. I thought the whole purpose of broadcasting in HD was to provide a widescreen aspect ratio. If not, why don't they just use their regular channel to broadcast HD 4:3?

I think they rushed their HD channel to market and simply aren't ready with enough converted material. They do broadcast some 16:9 and OAR, but a lot has been later at night when only the nite owls are still awake. :)
