I appoligize if this is the wrong area but I am a little brain dead right now. I have been trying to research HDTV's and planning future upgrades to our Home Theater and the options are mind bogling.

Currently have a 32" std tv, DirectTV thru a Hughs-HIRD-PO stb. I have sound run through a Sony STR-DE525 (believe it doesn't have a 5.1decoder as the 5.1 input had 5 seperate inputes) and a cheap Minitek DVD (model 2110).

Working on a limited budget (plan will take probably three years) I plan on upgrading the above components.

I am currently looking at a Mits WS-48313 HDTV RPTV. I plan to upgrade my DirectTV to a HDTV set and dish next year (with dvr and sat internet) and the sound and DVD when $$ exists.

I am wondering if this is a good order to go in. My current 13yr old TV is starting to die, wont recieve over ant and composite vid is starting to black out and ya need to pull a fonze on it to get it back.

I am looking at opinions on the set I am looking at and my plans. Will not having an HDTV recieve for local (13493) digital channels for a year pose issues with proper operation and break in of the set. Most of our viewing is off sat.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I may be streching the budget just to aquire the TV. for this year, Next years tax return should finish the upgrades.

On a budget?
Start with:
wwwuecweb.com refurb Hitachis at GREAT prices and if you do search here ypu will find many satisfied customers.

Are you Locked into DIRECT?
Look at DISH for a FREE HD tuner
http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/products/system/index.shtml

And now for that DVD player- many good ones for under 75 dollars that are progressive scan. http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?PAGE=CATLIST&PRO_SUB_CAT=221&PRO_SSUB_CAT=999

So for less than 1200 dollars you can have an HDTV, HDreceiver and a progressive scan DVD player
add an extra 50 dollars for an antenna and get your local digital channles as well.
