I was wondering is it best to leave the channel screen on normal? When I watch FoxD and CbsHD it looks like a picture frame. Another question is if i stretch the picture will the hd quality be the same. Please tell me what is the best screen format to watch the hd channels in normal stretch or zoom.
This question is irrelevant for most people since their TVs cannot properly stretch incoming HD signals.
The only TV that can is the "82" series Toshiba. I assume by your question that you have one. Use whichever mode is best for you, although I'd think that TW1 or "Full" would be the proper ones for 4:3 material...
See the FAQs on "Widescreen Stretch Modes" and "Black Bars".
Just remembered that some STBs can now stretch HD. The only appropriate stretch for 4:3 material would be the "horizontal only" stretch. It would reduce the picture quality some (33%). If the original programme is widescreen with bars all around, then the zoom would be appropriate, but then the PQ would be reduced by a factor of 2.
