Does anyone know how multiplexers (or any other similiar equipment) figures in the number of HD channels a cableco can provide at any given time?
I've seen several references to cableco's being limited to 8 HD channels (at least at a point in time). I've also got some experience with old mainframe computers and multiplexers that defined how many users could be connected. These were always in groups of 8, 16, 32, etc. So, I assume there might be some kind of relationship between multiplexers and the number of channels a cableco offers, at least until they install more mulitplexers. Comments?
