In today's paper there was a statement from Gateway apoligizing for not mentioning that the plasma tv's that they have been advertising do not display hdtv despite the fact that they were pushing the fact that they were hd compatable. It went on to explain that hd compatable meant that is could except hd signals just not display them.
I hope this means that they will be clearer in future ads. Too much confusion and misleading going on imo.

I noticed earlier this week when the following link went up that they do say "EDTV" instead of HDTV. Everything is relatively clear compared to a lot of ads that are quite misleading (like the one by Viewsonic).

and I still can't convince my neighbor that he does not have HDTV - he bought that 42" plasma from G-way...he says the website said it accepts HDTV signals - argghhhH!!! I have a WS Panny and showed him some shows and he can't tell the difference in pic with his!!! So, he believes still that his Plasma is HDTV....
when the revolution comes - he's gonna be first on my list!!
Doncha hate those people who could afford Plasmas not know what they're buying - it's like the guy who buys a Porche and uses it to go to the mall

People who bought these did not care if they were HD ..They just want to say they have a "plasma"
and a Gateway Plasma at that..(Imagine a Grey Poupon Commercial)
I know Ignorance is bliss but he's telling everyone that the pic is HD....that's just perpetuating the lie!!!
ok...it is friday and I should just shut up and watch ESPNHD tonight!

When the revolution comes he can always put four legs on it and use it as a nice modern plasma coffee table. :D

Gateway's reputation fell like a lead ballon last year...they ARE NOT a reputable company anymore and I have bought 5 Gateway computers over the years. Will never buy a product from them again..most of their lines are now manufactured by other companies. They have always had misleading advertising on their computers and warranties.
