Hello,

I recently installed a triple lnb dish w/multi switch and a Dtc 100 stb. I adjusted the elevation, azimuth and tilt came inside and had about 87 strength on 101sat and 109/119sats. Watched tv for maybe an hour. Then, all of a sudden, I lost the 101sat........dropped to 0. I have tried adjusting the dish. Now it comes and goes.......but the 109/119 stays strong at 87. If I go to "signal strength" sometimes the signal for 101 goes up to 87-90 and says"signal is locked" and it seems to stay there until I clear the screen and go to view the tv.......then it drops off to 0 again. I have the stb set to oval dish and triple lnb. Is this a problem with dish pointing? Obstructions? The stb? My connections? On occasion the signal will stay locked and the picture will come in and stay in for hours........but it is very unpredictable...........I am very new at this. I am planning to have a superbowl party and really need to be sure that it will come in. I believe this will be a local broadcast on the 101sat. Which is my problem area.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I had same issue. Bad cable. Replace the cable and it should go back to normal. More than likely its the cable going into the house.

Good luck.

Had a similar problem myself, which I traced to a splitter near the end of my cable run (the previous owner used it to split his catv I guess). Removed the splitter and all was good.

Hello,

Thank you for your replies. I took you advice.......I changed the cable to the dish. I now have one single line going directly from the receiver to the dish. No splitters.....new cable.....same problem. What symptoms would I have if the built in multi switch was faulty? It seems that if I do get the 101 to function......when I go back to a program on 110/119......I then lose the signal to the 101. Driving me crazy!!

Thanks again

That does sound like the multiswitch. I had the same symptoms when you are on a channel, surf, go back, and that channel is gone. Its usually that the coax is not delivering the entire signal from the dish to the receiver. Since you replaced the coax and no splitters as suggested, it sounds like the multiswitch. You could have a defective receiver but that really sounds like a signal issue.

Did you get Directv service protection? They offer that in conjunction with some package deals. Anything goes wrong, and they come out to your house to fix it. I think you can buy that too.

I hope all works out.
