To all of you Grand Wega Owners I have great news, I spoke with Sony Tech Services today and they told me the issues with the Grand Wega III have been completely taken care of!!!

They told me there was a problem with the lamps and a few curcuit boards in the early line of production, these problems have been completly fixed and the service tech told me that if the problem persists after the modification was installed they would replace my TV with a brand new one and also give me a $1000 Sony gift certificate good for anywhere in Canada. Nobody gives away a thousand dollars unless they are confident!!!

Keep in mind my TV still works as good as the day I baught it, but the best part is that I didn't have to call them, the store I purchased my TV at{Future Shop} had them call me so I didn't have any future problems on such an expensive purchase. Anyways the Sony service tech will be at my house by the end of the week to install the modification, I will post again then to tell you how it goes.

For anyone with this T.V with a manufactures month of before December should look into this because you never know what might happen, and it is better to get it fixed before it breaks so you dont have to wait a while with no TV.

Hope I could help some of you,

To The Bob Goat,

I didn't call them, the store I purchased the set from {Future Shop} had them call me. I am fairly sure it was just your regular sony service center. Here in Canada the number would be different than for you in the States. However if I was you I would call the closest Sony Store to you and ask for their Tech Services number. They should be more than happy to help you!
Also is your TV working well for you now? and also what month was it manufactured in? that should give you a clue. Hopefully you baught the extended warranty so you dont have to worry about these problems.

Hope I could be of help to you, please let me know...

Max, I also bought my WE610 at FS. Mine is working fine since Nov. No one from FS or Sony has contacted me. Does FS do this for all it's customers or only a lucky few?

I cant tell you if it's just the lucky ones, I do no that Future Shop has sold over a hundred of these TV's so maybe it will take some time before they call everyone or it could be because I spent over $17000 Cdn in their store the day I baught my TV. That day I baught the TV, the stand, the Sony touchscreen remote, the 15 inch Velodyne Sub, a Polk Audio Center Channel and Polk Audio Dipole/Bipole Rear surround, stands for my surround, the Monster AVS2000 Voltage stabilizer, a JVC DVD Player, a Pansonic double Cordless phones, all THX wires and I also baught a few things for my computer and a couple of Xbox games and the Xbox HD pack.
So I think they like me a bit there!!! Plus I put warranties on all the big purchases.
Sorry If I didn't help you much, atleast your T.V has worked for months and congrats on your excellent purchase.

Note to the BobGoat,

Max isn't loaded I'm only a 22 year old young man with a passion for the latest electronics!!! I wish I was loaded, I do fairly well for myself but I am far from loaded.

I found that remark funny, Thanks for a good laugh!!!

I'm seeing some ghosting on my unit, not the same model as yours.........what issues were you referring to? Tom :smokin:

There is an issue with some of the lamps dying pre-maturly. Sony says it's about 1% of the sets but they always say that. Other than this I dont know of any other problems. The picture quality is out of this world and almost makes you feel like you can reach out and touch it!
