sony xbr400 and hdtv

i have a 36" sony xbr400 and am thinking of getting an hdtv receiver. i know that the manual says that the xbr400 is "hdtv ready".

does anyone here also have an xbr400 and use it with hdtv and if so how does it look? does it truly put out a 1080 signal?

I don't own the specific tv but HD ready means it is ready to have a high definition connected to it. It will then display a HD picture provide a HD signal is input.
