Hi All, Just got my "50" and learning the different menu options.
Some questions please, for the experienced on this form.... 1) With respect to the Screen selection, I can only get 4:3 Default - yes this single avaliable menu option does allow selection between Widw Zoom, Normal, Full, Zoom, and Off. Is this correct that this is the only option under the Screen option? 2) Under the Audio option, is it possible to connect directly to remote speakers using the Audio Out : Variable? Is the variable out a preamp level? I can't seem to get an output directly to speakers - regardless of the volume adjust level. Thank You in advance. Happy Viewing to all. jerry

The fixed and variable outputs are line level and they need to go to an amplifier/receiver first, then from there to the speakers.

Lee,
Thanks for the rapid response. I was hoping for an other answer, eventhough I was sure it would be as you stated. I'd like to have the output controlled by the TV volume control without an additional amp (another control) in line. Oh well, something will come to me eventually.
Thank You.

Clarification: Re:TheBobGoat reply above
I've split the source cable signal: one line into a SA DVR box with continuation into the Vidio 1 (DTV) connections; the second line into a SA HD box with continuation into the Video 5 (HD) connections. The DTV interface does allow the remote to change the picture size via the wide selection button as you indicated. The remote wide selection button does not seem to work for the HD interface. Depressing it results in a temporary "Full" indication on the screen. Apparently the size of the HD display is controlled by the incomming program signal because the picture size changes depending on the program. As with my other question about the audio output, it is becomming aparent that there are some things with this unit that don't work the way thought (or would have liked) - I'll adjust. The PQ is well worth it. If I am doing something wrong, and there is a way to display the wide screen all the time' please inform this slow to comprhend newbe.

i had the same problem with the fixed screen size on my video 7 (DVI) from the sammy 931. it was no good. using just the video 5 input with the same dvd player, i am allowed to resize it just fine. --- with the dvi it was always stuck in full mode just like you have.

its most likely the source that is causing the problem -- i dont think its a gwIII issue

take care

Jerry:
Hey, not sure this is the solution to your problem, but then again, it might help. Are you using a Direct TV HD receiver? If so, and it's a Hughes this might help. When I first hooked-up my Sony to Direct, I noticed when I pushed the Sony remote button 'Wide" it would only show 'Full' on the lower left hand side of the screen. This is when watching satellite channels - not OTA.

Assuming when you go to your Direct TV Main Menu, Setup Menu, A/V Setup, and your settings are: TV res. = 1080i, Screen Ratio = 16:9 you should be able to hit the "Action" button on your Direct remote, then hit "8" before the "Action" goes off your screen, then you can change the aspect ratio to what you want while watching 4:3 stuff on satellite.

Hope this helps......... Tom :smokin:
