I'm new to the HD scene and I need some help with my PIP issue. I have the Sony KF42WE601 which has a great picture. The features are great. I have a SA Explorer 3100HD hookep up to it and I can't get the PIP to work. I tried the feature that the set has with using the "TO CONVERTER" outlet and the STB wouldn't light up. I tried a splitter and that didn't work eather. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Bob,
First, you need to use splitter to split the incoming signals into two. hook up the first one to cable box (to converter) and hook up the second one to your TV(out to tv) or VCR (from converter). This way you will be able to use PIP. Make sure you have component hooked up to your TV. Left side of PIP is your HD signal and right side is the SD.

Thanks,
I did try using a splitter but it did not work. Does it have to be a special splitter? Also, do they have to go in a special order? I might have gone wrong there. Does this mean I do not use the converter hookup on the TV?
Thanks

I used regular 5mhz-1000mhz splitter. When you hook up to the TV, hook it up to (ANT) INPUT instead of CONVERTER INPUT.

How (and where) did you try using a splitter?
You split the line coming out of the wall.
One line goes directly to the TV (Cable/Ant In).
The other line goes to the box and then the Component cables from the box go to the TV Component In.
When you select the PIP function, you will need to set one window to the cable line and the other window to the box line. You will have the RTFM to figure out how to do this part.
