I just bought a 36HS510. So far I am not too happy, but I hope that it can be fixed.

First, I would like to enable 4:3 ration (full screen). From the user's guide, I anything on 4:3 - just 16:9. If I cannot get full screen, what is the point of buying anything but a wide screen TV? Please help.

Second, the picture quality is somewhat grainy and not clear as I expected. However, when the picture is minimized (when access the cable guide) the picture looks awesome. What am I doing wrong there?

Thanks for your help.

I would agree.

All HD programming is in 16:9. Although not everyting on the HD channels are in HD widescreen today, most primetime programing is, most movies are and in the near future most all programing will be.

I would take the TV back and buy a widesceen. You will be much happier in the long run.

As far as quality, most of the time SD channes do not look very good on HDTV sets, but the HD channels should look great. If they do not, you may have your cable box set incorrectly. Make sure it is set up to display the correct output that your TV supports.

I wouldn't worry too much about the SD channel quality. Once you have an HDTV you will find that you watch the HD channels a lot more than SD. With time the SD channels will go away and you will only have HD channels.

An HDTV is a large investment and hopefully you will use it for many years. I would think more about what you will be watching than what is just here today. Although depending on where you live, there is a lot here today.
