I recently purchased the R56W36 model, and my PS2 doesn't want to function properly through the component inputs on it. I have the setting in the PS2 menu set to Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr, so I don't know what else I could possibly change in the menu. The problem is the picture is kinda blurred, and I was having some color changing craziness going on.

I 1st purchased the Monster Game Monster Cable gamelink 400 cables, and have not been able to get a normal picture, so I called Sony tech support, and of course they blame the cables because they are not licensed and manufactured by Sony. So I bought the PS2 licensed component cables today, and while the picture is still blurred, the colors are normal so far. (they would go from normal to a reddish and green color after being on for a few minutes with the last cables, and when I tried a DVD in the PS2, the color went from normal to black and white after about 3 minutes).

Running through composite and S Video, the picture is perfectly normal. Anyone out there with this model of a TV and a PS2 who can help me straiten this out? Another weird thing is that some games look fine and dandy running through component, while others have this lego kind of look. I don't get it.

do you know anybody else that has a ps2 that you could check using there's on your tv? do you have another dvd player? if so has does it work on your tv? do you get hdchannels? if so how do they look through your component outputs? i would try out these things so you could eliminate whether it's the ps2/dvd player, stb, or the tv. good luck!

I am gonna try and borrow a PS2 from a dude I know if I can get a hold of him. I am also gonna try and see another guy I know's Xbox ables work on my TV. What I am coming up with just doesn't make any sens...SSX 3 looks pretty good throough S Video, but if it is running through component, it looks blurry. Not extremely blurry, but it looks alot beter running through S Video than it does through component. This makes no sense, as it should at least look as good going through component as it does through S Video. However, there is an option to turn on progressive scan by holding down Triangle+X button when the game is booting up, and if I do this, it looks stunning. Tiger Woods looks fine running through S Video, but through component, it has that rough look, and it does not have a progressive scan option on it. Tekken 4 looks the same on S Video and component both, virtually no difference that I can tell. Same with Guilty Gear XX. I don't understand why some look fine, and others don't, considering that Tekken and Guilty Gear don't have a progressive scan option on them either.

I have A Zenith C32V37 which I really do like....but I also am experiencing better picture quality using the S-Video than the component video. I have tried upgrading the component cables following the suggestions on a different thread elsewhere here and noticed a slight improvement...but the picture is still better using the S-Video. I have "calibated" the set using Avia. I have noticed this problem regarding Zenith posted on Amazon also. Is it a manufacturing problem, or has someone found a solution to this odd problem?
