Hi All..

Been playing around w/ my ReplayTV a bit....
I have had it for a while but never really messed w/ the hook up much..

Currently, I have the S-video out of my STB going into the ReplayTV unit and then S-Video out of the unit to my TV's input.
Works fine.. Happy with it..

I was curious.. If I was to use the component output of the ReplayTV unit to the TV while still using the S-Video input method mentioned above.. Will I (should I) notice any difference?
The Unit is supposed to output at 480p.. My Tosh. TV will upconvert to 540p.....

I have always be a follower of the "Garbage In / Garbage out" saying... But figured I would ask..

Maybe the unit does something I wasn't aware of...

Thanks

Hippie

Even if the unit does any upconversion, it's unlikely to be any better than your TV. You can always try it and see...

Is it possible to be better than the S-video ?

Sure, component video is better, that's why they included that connection on "high end" DVD players 5 years ago, even when the signal was 480i. See the FAQ on "Cables & Connections". It's not a lot better, for SD, but every little bit can help.

I'll give it a try then....
I just figured it was better because of the source being a DVD..
Didn't realize it went back that far to 480i days..
