With the number of threads noting some units with flicker problems, and the "lamp burn out isssues," are there any other significant issues to be potentially concerned about?
I've plug my 42" Grand Wega into a very good surge surpressor unit. I've already had to return my first TV due to "dead pixels," which I'm told can happen as a consequent of a surge event. Don't know if this is a BS but don't otherwise want to take any chances.
Is it possible to get an extended warranty on the TV? I purchased mine from Crutchfield.
Many thanks!

No matter what model you purchase, buy the extended warranty. When you average it out over a 3 or 4 year period, it is well worth the investment (and not as painful) if you had a major repair. And, from experience, it can happen. Do it.

Do you have any suggestions regarding locations to purchase the extended warranty. As mentioned I purchased via Crutchfield (an online/mail order source). Does Sony (style) sell extended warranties? If not what are possible locations where they can be purchased and what is a good price for a $3000 television?
Thanks in advance.

Flicker was an issue with CRT-based RPTVs, not LCD-based ones.
The LCD ones actually are pretty modular and would be easy to fix. Most things go wrong in the first short while (covered under the manufacturer's warranty), or they last a long time.
See the FAQ on Extended Warranties - people are split about 50/50 as to whether to get them or not. Depends on if you're the type of person who self-insures most things, or whether you're risk averse.

The guy came out today to replace all CRTs and the green board. The picture looks pretty good but not as sharp as it was before the repair. He said that if after a few days it doesn't clear up he will come back out and to another focus. There's a little green bleed on all parts of the picture(Esspecialy text) and hopefully that will go away after he aligns the guns. All in all I have to say that I'm pretty excited about the new guns. I haven't seen a bit of flicker. By the way I have a KP-57wv700.
