STB??? Yes? or No?

I have purchased a Toshiba 57H82 and love the quality of the DVD's and all. I currently subscribe to Direct TV and have for about 7 years or so.

Quandry: Should I wait until the merger is completed or denied?

It seems that nobody knows which companies receivers will be used should the merger go through! I want HD programming, but don't have $500 to toss in now and another $500 later in case this doesn't go through (not counting the cost of the dish).

I could get a OTA STB, but still would have to add a satellite STB later - that would bite!

Is there anyone else out there that is facing this dilemma?

Since you currently have Direct go with a Direct capable HD Tuner-Toshiba,Hughes, Sony etc. I personally can not recomnend 1 brand over the other. I do OTA only.
If or when the merger is complete they will swap out your box if needed.
The talk around the forums is Dish will replace all Direct equipment with Dish stuff. Supposedly to elimanate hacked cards.
