if I get TW hd can I specify which hd box to get and if so which is best ( the sa 8200hd/pvr is not avaliable in nc yet).

The answer is no, they usually tell you what options you have, if any.

Their systems are not cross-compatible, so you can't put a Motorola on an SA system for example...
