I got my work projector home to just try it out. Got curious as to what people are experiencing at home. I had to try it.

I got Epson PowerLite 7500c, its a XGA 1024x768 LCD PJ. I projected it on the light brown painted wall. I had to move my Panny HDTV. I connected it with D-SUB (VGA) connector. Boy I played Matrix reloaded car chase scene. I loved it, I was amazed. I was speechless. :wow:

I increased the size to the biggest size possible, it almost covered the entire height of the wall. Must be about 12 feet wide diagonal. Loved it. :D Of course I could see the pixel structure. Loved its sheer size.
Of course the black was not as black (Contrast ratio 300:1). Still loved it. I did all this in the evening and could make the room really dark, so it looked really good. I know it wont be as good during the daytime.
Now I want to get one.
Then my wife walks in and says its too big, why isnt it clear ??

Lee I know what you experience everytime you watch HD or DVD on your DLP PJ. I envy you. If I lived on Portland, I would have asked for a audition of your PJ.

I dont think I have the room for it yet, because I cant make the living room completely dark during daytime. Once I finish my basement, I will have to get one. But two HT systems seems like too much.

All you guys with PJs, I know now firsthand what its like to have that huge screen.

yep, I'm with you, I just picked up a used panisonic l200u, not hd, but very nice for dvd's, right now I just hang a temp screen in front of my mits, and enjoy the 80" screen:D

I am probably going to get a pulldown sometime, but for now, I am set, this way I can use my same dvd, and surround system.

even the wife likes it so that is a plus:bow:

she does say I am out of control, she is right, as long as she realizes it:rofl2:

My wife says I turned our basement into a dungeon :) If you recall I did completely away with the window that was behind my RPTV. She doesn't complain about the projector. As far as being out of control, she gave up on me years ago :)

Thursday night is guys night. I don't work Thursday night and my wife does. The guys come over and we remove all restrictions on volume level :) Not that there was much to start with.

I cannot emphasize how much difference a good screen makes. And dark non-reflective walls.

My favorite A/V store has three rooms with projectors setup. I was watching a Sony LCD the other day and I thought the PQ was really great.

Prices are really dropping on LCDs and DLPs. By the holidays this year I'll be thinking 'damn I should have waitied'.

Right now I'm playing with audio, speaker and sub placement etc. I'm learning a lot.

I'd love to demo my system but you guys are all over the country :(. In the early 90's I ran a BBS. We used to have user meets every three months, it was a fun time. :) Big pizza party with drawings etc. 75-100 people.

Somehow, someday, I'll have a beer with Kevin or 57U and who knows who else :D

I envy you Lee. One day I will have a HT room with PJ in it.

And the wife complaint thing, it just never goes away, it seems to disappear every now and then, but their it is in the back of their mind.

I had to bring the PJ back from the house, didnt want to.

I can understand what a good screen can do to the PQ.

I have noticed one thing though, the light seems to bleed from the beam and illuminate the room a bit. It looks like night light, not all that bright, the room isnt pitch black anymore. Does that happen to all PJs in a dark room ?

We should plan a meet or something like that. Then people with similar interests can gather and enjoy.

Ill be going this route in the future..... We have our house on the market, and the house that we want has an unfinished basement. I want to have it finished eventually, but to have 2 seperate rooms, one for the Home Theater and one for poker, pool, bar, etc...

This Virtual view here (click on the basement link) is what i had in mind (http://media.homestore.com/HMZ46URU.htm) ..

you can rotate and see the seperate theater room....

Nice, I dont have that kind of room in my basement. I live in a townhouse. I also cannot buy those nice SVS subwoofers, risk of annoying the neighbors. Oh, well.

I haven't noticed the bleeding from the beam but reflection off the screen. I have my walls painted a dark non reflective color. The ceiling is supposed to be a dark blue/gray but I never seem to get to it :D Too busy watching movies and HD.

With no reflection off the walls (and ceiling someday) you don't have all that light bouncing around.

Joe, NICE! I love the indirect lighting. At first I was thinking too many windows but the two room approach is great.
