Trying to get HDTV Signal over the air. I live in Houston. I have a Samsung Tuner from Direct TV I tried several Antennas indoor and outdoor. The latest 1 is a Radio Shack Omni. Thought I had it nailed! It worked well for about a month. Now I lost signal on most of my OTA channels. Especially Channel 11 no signal at all. Could it be that the tall trees have grown leaves now? What do you recommend? Thanks, Kirk

Kirk,

First check your connections to make sure that there is no water infiltration, and that there is no corrosion at any of your junctions.

Second, if that does not work, try and see if you can get additional elevation on the antenna. Remember that UHF signals are line of sight, and even five extra feet can make a difference.

Third,(if everyting else fails) get a good UHF only antenna, as the digital stations in the Houston area, (with one exception) are on the UHF band. (those omnidirectionals don't tend to have very high gain on the UHF band) a good place to start would be www.antennasdirect.com

Good luck

To both of you, welcome to HDTVoice!

There are two FAQs on OTA and antennas, with lots of links.

There are many other FAQs that you should browse also.

Post your zipcode and we can see what the situation is on digital TV in your area.

Let us know,
Lee
