I have a 811 and a antenna which states ( This antenna will be ready for the future with its HDTV compatibility! ), and a station 40 miles away which broadcast ntsc on one station and digital on another do I need anything else to catch the digital?

All you have to do is mount the antenna and run RG6 coax to the 811.

I wish it was that easy :) Check www.antennaweb.org and see what stations are transmitting digital in your area. It will also tell you the channel numbers, distances and directions to the transmitters. All of which are very important to getting setup properly.

What is the brand and model of the antenna that you have?

Post your zip code and we can see what your digital/HD situation is.

Let us know,
Lee

Oh, saying that an antenna is HD ready is marketing hype. Any UHF or UHF/VHF antenna is HD ready :)

My zip is 70669, and I bought this antenna from radio shack (120" item# 15-2154) I can pickup the Beaumont area locals very well, better than cable, but it ghost the picture for 7 in lake charles, so i turned it to catch Lafayette locals and they are a little snowy but 7 is crytal clear. On my 811 when I try to add a digital channel (cbs 56.1) it will only get a 49% signal. Now here is my question, if I add a In-Line Signal Amplifier, do you think it will get better.

Go to the channel and select it. Wwhen it shows 49% , push the guide button-providing you have the guide with video. Give it a minute and it should lock.
49% is the 811's code for trying to lock a signal. Most people with this issue are experiencing multipath and are having difficulty locking the station.

I would receomend a pre amp from your distance.

When setting it up in the local menu, I got it to save one time while scanning for d channels, and then went to guide to see and it started doing the signal meter, went up to 49% then error screen apeared told me weak signal and to adjust antenna, or another problem. I'm guessing that since those stations are a little snowy that its just a weak signal. Most of the time while scanning it won't find any d channels. Also in the HD setup, should it be on off air?
