I have a Mitsubish 55413 and really love it. My problem though, concerns DVDs that say they are enhanced for 16x9. What does this mean? I have a DVD player connected to the TV with component cables and I still get black bars on the top and bottom of the screen no matter what format I have the TV set on. What are your experiences with DVD's that are optiminized for 16x9?

There has been previous discussion on this topic, some of it at length from what I recall. But the shorter version is this: Even those enchanced for 16x9 TVS have aspect ratios that are greater than 16:9 (such as 2.35:1 for many epic movies). You will still get black bars, but they will be much smaller than the bars you'd see on a 4:3 television. Other movies will have no bars, because their aspect ratios closely approximates the 16:9 of the TV. There's nothing wrong with the DVDs or your TV, unless of course you're getting bars on all 4 sides, in which case the DVD is NOT enhanced (or anamorphic).

You must have four characters to search. Use a wildcard. "DVD*" for your search.
