I noticed 2 things.

1) I didn't recieve the email notice for a reply to a message I left (I am set for instant notification)

2) I have to log in each time I come to hdtvoice.com.. Used to be I would be logged in until I chose to log out or if I deleted the cookie from my system.

Go into your options area and make sure the "Receive email from other members" is checked. I cannot send you an email currently. Also, make sure the message wasnt sent into your bulk folder or junk folder.. VB3 might of added some new subject line words that your provider might of blocked...
I tested email on the server and its working.

I like the fact that the PMs are now linked at the top of the page instead of having to scroll to the bottom.

I don't think the search function is working properly - only seems to find the most recent posts, not posts done before this change - I could be wrong, but I thought all the selections on the search were correct.

Also, the FAQ link at the top of the page seems to go to the search page and some links - I'm assuming that's what you wanted. Would it be a good idea to put a link to the HDTV FAQs in here?

You have to go back to the main forum page to be able to mark forums read. This may be a vB3 thing, I've seen it on another vB3 forum.

Edit: Never mind, found it, The QUICK LINKS at the top of each page has MARK FORUMS READ, among many other things.


It is faster, let's see what happens during 'prime time' :)

I think i know why you cannot see it, b/c your a moderator and I didnt change that groups permissions yet... Im rebuilding the search index currently (Which takes like 45 minutes) to see if it fixes the problems that 57u mentioned... once I am done that, Ill fix the moderator title permissions...

I am not having this problem when I come back but when I go to look at the galleries it says that I have to be a registered user even though I am already logged in.

When I enter the Gallery and Review sections it has me logged in. I can view galleries and reviews.

I do get this message at the top of the screen

Ooops, looks like the 'delete post' is turned back on. Does it have the same function as in the older version of vB? If you delete the first post of a thread it deletes all posts in that thread? (Not that you aren't busy enough doing other things :))

The previous post error is gone (you done it!!!).

That said, STILL GETTING 2-3 popup runtime errors whenever going in or going to any photos in the Photo Gallery.

I tried to do a photo update (I took new one to replace older photo today), and here's what I got:

When I clicked on "new posts" from the Gallery, it took me to a "search" in the gallery, instead of to the new posts.

Yup... even went through and re-entered all the info....(email addy etc..)


As for cookies Lee, I set my security level to 0 and logged on so that the site could drop anything it wanted onto my system.

Just uploaded a picture to my gallery. Everything looks good, didn't see any glitches.

Review section looks good too.

The only things (very small) is the welcome banner in both the Gallery and Review sections - next to HDTVoice is a small box with and red 'x' in it. Like a missing icon or someting. The time in the Gallery is out of sync with the forums. Didn't make a comment in the review, didn't get to check the time there.

Overall:
I'm seeing an increase in speed. I missed checking during primetime :(
I'm finding it easier to navigate around the forum, post replies and make edits. There are a lot of new features that are nice.

I liked the big yellow smiley better than the :D but I'll learn to live with it :whistle:

Oh, what was it about a mod forum? :)

Yep.. same problem here..
That makes 3 issues I am having problems with..

1) Log in everytime
2) No Email notifications
3) Can't get into gallery.

I'm not getting email notifications of PMs either. I have the box checked. I do not have the box checked to allow all members to send email (same setup I had the the previous version of vB).

In my User CP I had subscribed to several 'Forums' not Threads (in the previous version). It lists the forums and in the box for each it says "Unsubscribe from this forum" When I click on it I get "No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster".

The above is not a problem for me as I didn't want to unsubscribe, just testing.

I am confused about the new posts function. Everytime I use it, it creates a new search ID which shows me a couple of new threads. But if I try to use search IDs that I used before, it doesnt recognize it. This way I have choice to choose what threads I want to read no matter how old they might be.
Older version of VB allowed this. Is they any fix for this ?

Ok.. figured out how to get into the Gallery..
There is a 2nd login prompt, about 1/4 the way down the screen on the right.. There are a few links that say:

Home | Search | Profile | Upload Photos | Login

I used this login and it recognized me as being already registered and let me view the gallery.

1 down.... 2 to go.....


EDIT: actually.. it appears to be remembering me now when I leave the site and come back to it later...

I got the pop-up from your PM but not the email notification.

When replying to a PM all I can find is to 'quote' it. Am I missing the 'reply' button somewhere? Again its not major, but sometimes those things are right in front of your face. :)

actually, Ive been out of town this past weekend... =) so the bugs are fixing themselves? I did check out some of the email stuff, and it seems that Yahoo automatically puts the HDTVoice emails in its bulk (spam) folder, so if you have accounts that are blocking certain emails, check to see if they are being placed into the spam/bulk folder. Im still looking into the cookies issues. This new software added a whole slew of new cookie options that might be messing with the gallery and reviews. Thanks again everyone for the feedback on bugs.. We will eventually get these squashed.

I am having one more issue, when you are on the new posts page and then reply to a post. The thread doesnt get bumped up to the top when I refresh the new posts page. Thats how I kept track of newly replied posts on the previous version of VB. If I hit new posts again then most of the new threads are gone except the latest ones. Then I cannot keep track of other posts because I cannot see them.
Does anyone else experience this ? How do you guys deal with new posts ?

Could it be some kind of compatibility issue? I had the errors for the first two days or so then they were gone. Maybe a software upgrade or something will help. I had to upgrade part of my browser but I'm having a CRS attack and for the life of me can't remember what I had to fix. :(

I go to perhaps 20 other HDTV/Home Theater sites with galleries and do not have this problem...3 of them use the same software as HDTV Voice...still no problems there - ONLY HERE. :mecry:


UPDATE: MY POST GAVE ME AN IDEA - I DELETED THE COOKIE FOR THE AUTO LOGIN, AND THEN LOGGED IN AGAIN - PROBLEM GONE.

SOMETHING IN THE SOFTWARE VERSION HERE MUST CONFLICT WITH SOMETHING IN THE LOGIN COOKIE.

ANYWAY, YOU KINDA HELPED LEE, SINCE YOU SPURRED ME ON TO TRY SOMETHING ELSE.... :cheers:
