I'm very interested in buying a HDTV tv but I just have an issue with possilbe dissatisfaction on the picture quality of non-HD channels. I have dish network, but all the non-hd channels are still going to look blurry and distorted, correct?
How many people have found this to be an issue to the point they wished they would not have spent 2-3K on a HDTV? I'm currently leaning towards the DLP Samsung.
Thanks for any opinions on the subject.

you get used to it... i have the 61" DLP and the SD channels are desent. For me, it was definitely worth it because the HD is unsurpassed. just being able to watch the final four and champ. game tomorrow in HD on a 61" tv is more than worth it ... but it would have been better if Duke actually won, but thats for another forum ......

Not necessarily. Depends on the channel but overall I found the SD programming on Dish to be very satisfactory.
One note, I went from a 52" analog RPTV to a 65" HD (ready) RPTV. So I was already on a big screen. Going from a smaller direct view to a large RPTV does cause some folks concern.
What percentage of your viewing is SD off Dish? DVD?
Check the FAQ section for lots of good info on what to buy, differences and what to do to your new HDTV.

When I went to look at my HDTV, the sales man was up front about it. He made it clear to me that SD programing would not look great on it. I bought it for the "Home Theater " thing. So, I bought it to watch DVD's NOT SD programming. I'm glad too cause, SD on DirecTV is poor. Looking to make the jump to VOOM.
If you find yourself watching a LOT of SD programing then, you could always go HD but, get a smaller set. Bigger is not better. If I had to do it all over again, I would have gotten a smaller HD WS set. I jumped from a 32" to a 43" WS and the SD picture quality dropped. I find myself only watching SD shows I love and HD shows I NEVER used to watch before, only cause they are in HD.
Wat's interesting is that an SD show CAN look great. An OTA show in SD looks good while a D* SD of the same show looks poor, cause of the compression used. So if a show is on the locals (ABC, CBS..etc) I will watch it through the antenna. It's when you watch CourtTV, FX and so forth that you have to deal with the poor picture.
Don't know if that helps.
