Being a Nascar Fan I think it would be awesome to see it in HD!! Anyone know anything?
Well, NBC had the Daytona in HD. Fox currently shows a number of races in 480P EDTV widescreen. Fox will be 720P in September....

I only see CHAMP races scheduled. NASCAR would be a big fish for HDnet to land. We'll see.
oops, I just saw this press release, they just haven't updated their schedule.
DALLAS and LOS ANGELES, March 15, 2004 – NASCAR and HDNet announced today a three-year partnership for NASCAR’s first high definition television package. This landmark deal features 15 live high definition telecasts for a total of 18 races from the NASCAR Grand National Division, a tier of NASCAR regional racing series which includes the Busch North Series and West Series. All the Nextel Cup races will be on Fox/FX or NBC/TNT for the next couple years that the current TV contract will be in place. NBC takes over after Daytona in July and they or TNT will have the rest of the races this season. I would guess that NBC will broadcast their races in HD, since they did Daytona. Unfortunately a majority of the races will be on TNT...after being spoiled watching Daytona in HD, and the rest in FOX ED, it will be quite a letdown going back to 4:3 on TNT in the fall!

TNT will be going HD on May 1. So they might be showing them in HD as well as NBC.

You can tell I don't follow NASCAR.
The HDNet broadcasts are the minor leagues of NASCAR, eh?

Yeah...pretty much! To use baseball as an analogy:
Nextel Cup (formerly Winston Cup) is the Majors...top division. Next is the Busch Series which is like AAA ball...the top "minor league" division. Then comes the Busch regional series (i.e. Busch North, Busch West), which is akin to AA ball. There is also the Craftsman Truck series, which kinda falls in between the Regional series and the Busch Series.
That is actually a pretty big deal for the regional series I guess, considering they historically havent gotten much TV air time...even w/ the Speed Channel.

Thanks,
I'm sure I'll watch it since it will be in HD.
Who knows, maybe I'll be hooked.
(At least I might start recognizing the driver numbers on all of the truck windows around town) :)
