I live in the Philadelphia area and every comcast Hd program for live sporting events flashs every 10 to 15 seconds. It almost looks like a camera flash on the screen. It is not just my TV. I have watched games at friends and other families houses and the same flashing occurs. It is very subtle and some do not notice unless it is pointed out. But once you see it it is very annoying. I have called comcast and they have no idea what I'm talking about. Does anyone else notice this or am I going nuts?

Buddycat,
You're not nuts. Where in the Philly area are you? I'll need some info from you, and lets see what we can do to get to the bottom of this.
THANKS!

But mine's not limited to HD channels.
Check your analog CSN tonight during the Flyers game, for me it's 35 and 172 = HD.
I get it on both.
Comcast is working to help me, but so far I'm the only customer who's reported a problem like this, until you.
For me, it's worse on the analog stations, my friends noticed it during St. Joe's last game.
I'm in Limerick, PA.
WOW, my sig is my old equip., man it's been a while.

I'm gald other people are noticing. Yes, I also see it on non HD channels analog stationl(channel 32). I live in West Grove(19390 zip code) which is serviced by the West Chester office. Just for the record it has been flashing since August 2003 and everywhere I turned I have gotten no help. Let me know what other info you may need. Thanks for the response.

:wow: Since August 2003.!
I just moved into Montgomery County, I just started to notice it ever since I got Digital Cable installed.
It wasn't in my house when I had analog only.!
Digital Cable + sports fans may REALLY limit the # of Customers being effected by this.
I don't understand how it could be happening on screen and people either ndon't see it, or just sit there and accept it, and not call.

Same here. As soon as I got digital cable installed it started happening. My friend lives in New Castle, DE and it happens to him. My father lives in Del. Co. and also happens. I have called comcast once a month and every time they said they are unaware of a problem. What is so unusual that Monday Night Football and even the Masters Came in fine.

Buddycat,
It appears (no pun intended) to happen ONLY in arena shots, not in outdoor shots. Is that what you are seeing?E-mail me offlist with your name, address and phone number - and I'll see if I can get things going in the right direstion.
THANKS!

Not sure if it's because I was so into the Flyers last night, but I have to say I didn't notice the flashing.
So I thought it was maybe gone  , until I went to ESPN and saw another NHL game between 2 teams I don't know and don't care unless they have to play the Flyers.
So it's back, and I also get a dimming effect after the white flash.
Do you see that too.?

You must of been into the game because mine was flashing. It is not as obvisous when the game is not in HD. Did not notice the dimming effect but then again I used to sub par signals when comes to sporting events. Hopefully faceoff will come through and get us some answers. Go Flyers!

Guys,
Still working on it. I watched the 3rd period last night - and now I saw "it". Not sure what "it" is. My initial thoughts are that it's actually flashbulbs. Now that I saw it, I'm not doubting what anyone says. I think that it's a bad analogy, but, it's kinda like hotdog fillers. If you consciously though about it, you would probably never enjoy a hotdog. I think that this is more like not know is not seeing (Ignorance really is bliss).
Can someone watch Saturday's game OTA and on Cable, and report back, and I'll keep hunting.
THANKS!
David

Must be a Philly thing. I'm in the Maryland/Baltimore area and I don't see it. Been watching HD channels every night too. Trust me I would notice, I am anal about my picture quality and things like that. Maybe compression issues, or it could be that it is playoff time and all TV's have been switched to "Playoff Mode". I dunno, but Baltimore is O.K.
