Hi

I have a Channel Master 4288 with a preamp for UHF. I live in Central Jersey zip code 08831. I am currently receiving all the channels from NYC HDTV feed. (40 miles) ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC with this set up. I am interested in receiving the philly feed (50 miles) away for WB/UPN.

I changed the direction on my ant to point towards philly. I was able to pick up the stations, but the signal strength was very low and I was not locking in to all the station without moving the ant a little bit.. I was thinking about picking up the DB8, but it looks awfully similiar to the 4288. Is this upgrade worth it?

Bare in mind, my ant is in my attic. I have no plans to move it outside. What do you guys think about this situation.

Thanks

The two antennas are 'very' similiar. I do not believe you will gain anything with the upgrade. I understand your attic situation, but you are losing about half the gain of the antenna having it in there.

I also have my antenna in the attic but I am not dealing with the distances you are.

Good Luck,
Lee

IMO... at 50 miles, the attic mount makes your chances pretty slim . I think your only two options are:
1) try a pre-amp (Channel Master 7775)
2) go outdoors and as high as possible.

BTW... I also have an attic mount (using a R/S yagi, no amps). But same as Lee, I only have to deal with about 20 miles.

I am using a pre-amp CM 7777 I believe, one for UHF only.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess, I'll live with the NYC feeds for now.

One day, I'll try and get those philly feeds.

I also live in central NJ (08817), but have had no luck pulling in any of the Philly stations. I'm using a CM4248 on the roof with a pre-amp and rotator. I think we are out of luck for WB and UPN.

I am little closer to philly than you are.

I had some luck pulling in some of the philly stations. I can get a signal strength above 20% -30% for WB. I can pull UPN perfectly fine from philly. I just wanted to be able to pull all the stations from philly and that is where I am having a problem. I think if I put my ant on the roof I would be able to get the stations, but not sure if I want to go that route yet.
