Worth repeating
I posted the message below last week on what seems to be a dead thread, so I thought I would share the info again in a new thread. (The Sound & Vision Home Theater Calibration DVD is mentioned here often):
For those who don't want to fork over the money for the Sound & Vision dvd, I found a copy of it at my local library. I tried it for free, and I liked it. My video settings were off quite a bit, and I never would have figured it out on my own. I will probably buy a copy now that I know what it is all about. Look for it (or the avia dvd) at your library. My library allows me to telnet into their card catalog, so I didn't even leave the house to see if they had it checked in.....try it yourself. -k |

klen:
Thank you for this helpful information. I did see it the first time around and should have issued thanks. Perhaps I can return the favour. Once I have read all the posts I was interested in, I stopped going to the various threads and simply click "View New Posts" at the top right of the home page. This way, I see all the new posts, regardless of whether they are "dead" or not. If you only log on occasionally, this would bring up a lot of threads, but if you log on regularly, it's the best way to see what's new. (You can, of course, check the dates on the various threads).

An added note if you do rent or borrow from a video store or library make sure that the filters are in the case. The filters are a plastic colored film that you look through while calibrating color.

Good point. Is there more than one filter in the Sound & Vision dvd? The one that I got from my library had a blue one in it, and that was the only one that the dvd called for. I thought my system looked and sounded good before I used this DVD. Now I am simply amazed at the difference.
Besides helping with the calibrations of your equipment, it also does a great job at educating the viewer about their system. As a bonus, the chick in the video ain't too shabby looking, but the guy gets a little irritating at times... -k |

Klen thanks for the feedback, there is only one blue filter in S&V. If you have the time, would you go to the following link and put in some comments regarding your expectations/experience. You may prefer to start a new thread, up to you.
