Unhappy Any good online buying experiences?

Does anyone have any good things to say about stores like, Plasmabay,Bestbuyplasma, butterfly photo,Plasmahouse, Dr. Projector,dbuys.com. These are the ones that come up when searching dealtime type engines. Most of these stores are in Brooklyn. There are some
on Coney Island Ave that I have searched the internet and have seen some
photos of store fronts that have graffitti and are obviously not where you want to send 5000 dollars. I really would like to buy from a reputable dealer
on line. I would like to save a thousand dollars not lose 5 thousand.

I baught my remote from Bluedo.com and saved about $1700 bucks. They are very good.

You can also try ebay, I have shopped on there for the past 2 years and never had a single problem. Just make sure the seller has good feedback.

I forgot to say Bluedo.Com only sells home theater remotes. I was just giving you an example of a place on the internet where I sent money to, and was glad I did.

6ave.com has pretty good prices, and I bought the Philips DVDR80 for a pretty good price. The only problem with 6ave is that if you want to return it, you have to pay a restocking fee and shipping, which is something you'll encounter with all online retailers (at least the ones I've seen). I ended up returning it, but for reasons unrelated to 6ave.

You should also check out cnet.com. The have price comparisons and store ratings. Definately check them out. I've found Cnet is definately more trustworthy to find a store than doing searches for online retailers.

Cool

I purchased an Aragon 2005 amp from Audio Advisor. The salesperson was intelligent about audio and home theater and you can't beat their guarantees. The item I purchased was delivered on time. Shipping was free.

I purchased speaker cables from Cobalt Cables.Again the people were knowlegible and courteous. Product was delivered on time, shipping was free. Two great places to buy from and when I need a new toy that's where I will make my purchase.

pete, pls go to onecall.com...they are located in spokane washington. oncall is a division of huppins. huppins is a 100 plus year old, authorized panasonic dealer and a real brick and mortar retail store in spokane, wa. i just bought my 50 inch panasonic plasma from them last week and could not be happier. check out their website and then call and ask for a gent named "patrick." one call is the best, you will find they have the best price plus they are an authorized panasonic dealer to boot. they'll very carefully ship the plasma to your door via abf motor freight on a shrink wrapped and banded pallet. fantastic shipping job as my plasma arrived last monday in perfect condition. i have bought many big ticket audio video items from onecall over the last several years and have NEVER had a single problem.

let me know how it goes...regards, mark

yeah, thats not too bright ... kinda dangerous transpo62 ..... anyhoo ....... i bought my 30" Aquos LCD from dbuys and saved $2300 vs. BB plus i didnt have to pay sales tax or shipping. the bottom line cost was 2138 or something around there .... but most of those places have different deals everyday thats why you have to keep up the research and looking everywhere everyday if your serious about saving money.

Thanks transpo62 for the info, but I have had this question on this forum for about a week and I couldn't wait. I found a very good deal on the latest Panasonic th-42px25u/p from Amazon.com. I did not feel comfortable with any of the others. I have not yet received the tv yet but have been tracking and it should be here tomorrow or the next day. If I have a good experience (or bad) I will post it on the main page. Thanks to all who responded to my questions and took the time to give some information. I appreciate it. I hope soon I will have some technical questions to ask,
do I not 100 dollar cables, what's a DVI, do I need a 200 dollar surge protector, these types of things. Thanks pete.

tv arrives

Received my Panasonic th-42px25. Ordered it on the 6th, it shipped on the 8th, I received it on the 16th. Saved 2200 including tax from Best buy or Fry's electronics. Amazon.com used Eagle shipping, they were very good.
I set the tv up for just regular cable for now until I have Voom installed in
a couple weeks. Picture looks good, I can't wait to see HD signal. So bottom
line I had a good experience with amazon and they gave a very competive
price. I also did some research on internet and this set is supposed to be very good picture quality. thanks pete.

Just my $0.02

I recently ordered a Denon receiver from an online store. I found them on the internet and then called the store in order to make sure it was new and not refurbished. The salesman assured me it was new but I definitely got a refurbished unit as it had visible damage to the case and there was no damage to the box it was shipped in. I never called back because even though the back of the case is damaged, the receiver works fine. I figured it wasn't worth the hassle. So, I guess the moral to the story is, buyer beware...

Note: I am happy with the purchase, great receiver, great price. Just wish I knew I was getting a refurbished unit.

Over the 'net purchases

I have made many purchases from the Web but this one was the most heart rending!

I decided to go for a new plasma. Did the research and searched and searched. I found a 50" for auction at the Sam's Club web site and went for it using the popcorn auction method of a dollar increments up to a maximum price. well, cut the story short, I won it a just a little over $5000. Note - the MSRP was $12K. I received it two weeks later (yeah - bit harried there for a while) in perfect condition. Not a thing wrong with the box let alone the machine contained within. What surprised me was that while I knew it came with a desktop stand, there had been nothing about a wall mount. Well, there it was wrapped tightly to the television's packing case. An adjustable wall mount that I had seen priced anywhere from $400 - $600. Nice one!

Spending that amount of money over the web was tantamount to recklessness for me but I was pleasnatly surprised and totally relieved when it arrived!

As a post script, I will say I did what most of us will do: check to see if I could have got it any cheaper. E-Bay had several but the reserves on them were all above $6500. Sam' had several more auctions and - yes - I did find that several of them came in less than the price I paid :-( BUT - only by a coupla hundred so I don't feel bad since I got mine before they got theirs! Boo-yah - in yer face as my teenager might say! LOL

Good luck, all.

Hi Peter -
I am looking to buy the same model....have you tried the cable card or internal hdtv tuner? How about the Picture in Picture? Any issues with the lower(?) resolution and game play?
Thanks in advance!
Chris

Crutchfield has the best service, after shipment and delivery experience, ever!
Bought from them from many years and they back up what they deliver and if there are any problems with the wrong item, etc...they do their best to fix it.

Has anyone heard of BCWnetworks.com? I'm doing research for a 42" plasma, and they're BY FAR the lowest price I've found online.... by a good $400 bucks. Almost looks too good to be true.

Just curious if they're a reputable company that anyone's had any experience with.

thanks!

I've had good experiences buying products from Crutchfield, Onecall, J&R Music World, Buy.com, and most recently from BH Photo Video. I had a good customer service experience on modified equipment from JVB Digital (although it seemed overpriced).

I would buy any book or video from Barnes & Noble or Amazon.com, but I don't quite trust Amazon electronics.

I bought my HDTV from Dbuys.com where the price was good and the service was satisfactory but not outstanding (I like a lot of communication or on-line checking of the order).

I don't like Costco.com because I can't chose how the order is shipped, and I've had orders come in a week or two late -- lost either in the mail or in Costco.com's warehouse.

I have had very few bad experiences from on-line dealers, but I tend to check the opinion pages on the net before I buy anything from a dealer I've never bought from before.
