Question Is this true?

I've started my shopping on a specific model, but have been trying to find a salesman that can explain subtle differences between similar models of diferent manufactures. Specifically, I'm looking for a Mits 65315 and I wan to know what other manufactures offer in a similar model, and to explain why I should pay the difference in price to buy a Toshiba or Hitachi instead.

To make a long story short, a Circuit CIty Saleman (about 20 years old) told me that Mit's makes the electronics for the Hitachi 65" that was on the floor. Can this be true? Is this a case like Buick and Pontiac both being GM products?

I Also tried a local Audio/Video specialist knowing that the prices were a little higher but hoping that the information would be more fruitful in my decision making. Ovation was the business. The sales guys there didn't seem to want to push a RPTV at all. They were too hung up on trying to sell me a DLP or LCD TV (about $1500+ more then I wanted to spend). They had countless Pioneer RPTV's on the floor but when I asked about them, I was told that Pioneer has got out of the HDTV market and will no longer be making them at all...sorta funny now that they have 10 Elite sets on the floor they will be very dificult to sell when they tell their customers that information.

Looks like Pioneer is leaving the RPTV CRT realm but is doing other HDTV displays.
Elite models always seems a little short in height as compared to Mitsubishi models, making them appear smaller in appearance. It also seemed, despite the higher prices of the Pioneer Elite RPTVs, the pictures seemed dimmer or not as clear as the Mits sets, either, so how could Mits be making anything for them to begin with?
Nothing, in my opinion, beats CRT for good blacks and color rendition in RPTV.
If anything, Circuit City should sell what it has and leave it alone.
The store by me doesn't say that and I know several of the salespeople there.
My Mits sets have survived 2 short run moves already and came out well so far.
Hitachi and Toshiba are both excellent brands and will give you good service for a long time. Save the money and get a service person to calibrate your set instead of coughing up extra money for DLP or LCD sets, just my opinion.

Sometimes various manufacturers make products for other brands. For example Hitachi makes some of the CRTs for some of the Toshiba models, however, they don't have to be the same CRTs they use themselves for example.

I don't think any of this really matters, simply research the TV you want on the basis of features, size, reliability, etc.
