Smile Jvc Av34wp84

Hi Everybody,

As a new member, I would like to hear everybody opinions on the JVC AV34WP84. Price? Service? Where did u buy it? Is it worth it? Any regrets? Along the same price range, what other products would you recommend?

Thanks

I was going to go with a Panny ct34wx54 and finally decided to go with the AV-34WP84... I got an HD set to play my Xbox games in HD mostly and the CT34wx54 did not do or upscale the 720p signal therefore I had to cut. I love the AV-34WP84, movies and games look great on it. I bought it on futureshop, however they don't seem to sell it on their website. I paid 1699.99 CAD (1,378.00 USD) for it. Apparently there was an issue with the price tagging, apparently its worth more however, this could also be a good way to make me happy about the price... probably BS.

Oh and it does 1500i

Jvc Av 34wp84

I bought mine from a local retailer. In the showroom it compared quite favorably with the Sony 34 XS960 right next to it. Detail was equal...richness of color perhaps a half a notch below the Sony. But at 600 dollars cheaper....it was an easy decision for me.
Since I just switched from digital cable to Dish Network (Charter Cable in my area does not yet provide HDTV service) I have had the opportunity to see several inputs.
The JVC Av 34 WP84 is excellent with progressive scan DVD's.....equally excellent on both HDTV and Digital and SD Cable. Fair to good on SD satellite transmissions.
PQ is extraordinary....TV speakers are o k (I also have external surround sound speakers, which gives me outstanding audio quality.
I've only owned it for three weeks...but so far, based on PQ, price and style, I feel like I was more than fortunate to pull the trigger on this CRT.

A number of guys on AVSForum.com bought this TV and all report that it looks great and not a single problem (unlike all the other brands including SONY). Some report that the PQ is better than even the Sony 34XBR960 ! JVC historically makes great TVs, and apparently the new models don't disappoint.

I have this TV....for about 3 months now. I can't rave about it enough. I was lucky and got mine for $1699 about $2K with shipping and a 4 year no questions asked warranty.

My buddy has a 50" widescreen and I prefer mine to his. I have a smaller room to work with, but for the size, it's amazing quality.

I haven't tested games on it, but am planning on an xbox soon. We'll see.....

18 Thumbs up.

I was considering purchasing this tv so I emailed the place to ask about it , they told me the toshiba 34hfx84 was better and that the jvc dosen't stretch the picture correctly. So now i'm trying to decide between the 2 and their not avaliable in my area to see in person. I also read the jvc dosen't have that many inputs, but others have stated that the jvc compares somewhat to the sony xbr960. I might just hold off on both.

Calibration CD

Anyone calibrate their set with a Calibration CD. If so which one, and what were your results. Thanks, bd.

Most use either Avia or Digital Video Essentials...
