I saw it for the first time last night... Picture was brite and sharp, great color and deep blacks... never saw any pixel blocking during action scenes...like I do with my 2 week old Sammy HLP-5663w. Now I'm serious thinking about returning the Sammy DLP and getting the JVC HD-61Z575 a bigger set for virtually the same price as DLP.

AVS Forum has some reviews on the set...so far very favorable. and also on the latest issue of HT magazine... they describe how LCOS works and the merging of 2 technologies..LCD and DLP.. best of both worlds.

I went over to the Good Guys to purchase the 60'' Sony XBR rear-projection TV, which I saw was getting decent reviews, but then I saw this one. The JVC set seemed brighter and looked sharper, not to mention being $700 cheaper for the same size, so I went with this one.
Should be getting it Friday. Hope I made the right decision.

I have the following comments to make.

1. JVC typically have good features and technology, but the reliability of their electronic components has not been as high as most other manufacturers (understatement).

2. LCoS is a new technology, this combined with the above remark, would make me doubly leery.

3. This LCoS is "only" 768P, not 1080P as some other upcoming LCoS sets will be.

I bought this set several weeks ago and love it. In the showroom the picture was better than anything else on the floor and it looks just as good now that I've got it set up at home. One important factor in my choice of sets was that I needed a fairly wide viewing angle. This set met the bill perfectly seems better than any of the other technologies except perhaps plasma.

I just hope the JVC quality issue noted by 57U doesn't come back to bite me.

Can you post some pics of the set? Or do you have pics somewhere else on the net you can give a link to? Do you play any video games on this TV (XBox, PS2, PC Games)? I'm interested in knowing how gaming looks on this set. Thanks in advance.

Do not play any video games on the TV, but I notice there is a game setting for the picture. I would think a video game would look great, given the quality of the picture.

Thanks for letting me know there is a setting even if you don't play games. Seems like JVC has thought ahead enough to add a setting so gaming should look pretty sweet on the set. Again, thanks for the info.

Awdie eyes

I've had my set for about two weeks and am loving it like a ride at Disneyland!! The only other set I considered was the HITACHI 50VS810.

If you have a bright viewing area then this is the TV for you - it's the brightest thing out there!! The swivel stand is a great addition, and the sound is the best I've experienced from a television.

You can be confident this baby won't be obsolete for quite a while.

I've had pretty good customer response on these TVs. They are a very good alternative to DLP, as it has no moving parts and you are not susceptible to seeing rainbows in the picture.

It is a more natualistic picture they said, vs. DLP

One other note regarding JVC HDILA. JVC has updated the ETA on the HD-52Z595 series to 1/14/05. This model has a built-in ATSC tuner, and Cable Card – otherwise, it’s identical to the 585 series. (it’s in black).

I've had my HD52Z575 since September. I agree with "Fish mojo", the set is awesome. No regrets to date.

I'm considering the 52Z585. What is the difference between the 575 and that one?
Should I hold out for a DILA TV that has the HD Tuner built in (595?) or a chip reader on the TV?

I believe that the 52Z585 has two HDMI inputs while the 575 has only one. If you want to enjoy HD broadcasts without a set top box, then the 595 is the way to go, but it does cost more than the 575.

The D-ILA my friend bought was the 585 and it has only one HDMI input.
The numbers are for siilver and black and hers is black.
