Onecall.com experience
Well, it's been a couple weeks since I got my TV. I thought I would recap what my experience was like with Onecall.com. I placed my order on a Sunday night....I couldn't resist the dramatic drop in price on the Sony KP51WS510. Monday I received a call and an email saying I needed to contact them to complete the order.
Because of a couple of reasons, I couldn't contact them until Tuesday AM. All they needed was to explain the shipping (delivery being curbside only) and confirm my address and all that. So, after that was all said and done, they said that it would be on it's way. Their delivery terms are pretty wide open on their site (2-14 days?), so I was hoping for it to be there in a week or so. Much to my surprise, Thursday the freight carrier called to schedule a delivery on Friday.  Friday comes along....and I leave work early to welcome my new baby to the house. The freight carrier showed up right on time....after calling me to get directions to my house (new subdivision, not on any maps yet). He went ahead and brought it, palette and all, into my garage for me. The next day I had some buddies come over to help me get it into my place....which is up a flight of stairs. All in all it was a good experience. There was nothing wrong with the TV out of the box, the customer service was good (they called this week as a courtesy follow-up), and the set is AWESOME. I read some good and bad things about Onecall and was a bit wary, but my experience was top notch.

Hello everyone,
I am a newbie to the HDTV World, and I think I am going to take the plunge very soon. This unit is the one I targeted based on price for performance, good reviews, and right size for my room. Thanks D Doug for posting this deal. The big problem I have is that I live in the middle of group townhouse and I will need to get it into my place by myself, since Onecall is curbside delivery. It will be going in my basement, so I am thinking I could use a handtruck and take the box around back. Anybody got any advice in getting these huge units into your houses?  Also, thank you all for the great insight, and informative. This is a great forum, and I will probably post more questions as I go along. Jim |

Get help from a friend. Get the measurements of the TV and make sure you can get it into your basement. Also most Bigscreens are on wheels much easier to roll than carry at least until you get to thesteps.

Get some assistance for moving up/down stairs. Not so much for the weight, but for the awkwardness of it. Even a split cabinet design, the bottom half is where the weight is...

What I did was make the measurements, and went so far as to grab some old cardboard boxes and fashion the TV's footprint (width and depth) and did a "dry run" through the door and up the stairs BEFORE I pulled the trigger on the purchase. I got the 51WS510 which is 172 lbs. I called over two people to help. We were able to get it in place in about 10 minutes. The big challenge in my place is the fact that my staircase is L shaped. Get two or three strong folks and carry the unit in, one step at a time. Two on one end, two on the other. It is heavy, yes, but because of its size and having enough people, it isn't that bad. I actually had worse times moving my 27" Wega, because of its weight relative to its size. Make the plunge! It's worth it!
