I feel completely out of my depth having bought a 32HX42 last week, so would really appreciate any clues on how to fix the following:
1/ Faces look overly pink and lips look too dark. Have tried messing around with the regular settings, but even with the color right down (3), it still looks too much 2/ When I watch a regular video (my daughter is hooked on Teletubbies to I have no choice here), the image is very highly pixelated (worse than on my previous ol' fashioned Sony box) 3/ The jump in volume between each step is too large - can it be adjusted ? 4/ My DVD player is a PS2, so do I have any hope of getting a decent picture through that or must I buy a prog scan model to get something that looks OK ? 5/ In general the panasonic manual seems pretty uninformative, is there anywhere I can go for something more comprehensive ? that just about does it... |

Welcome to the forum. Here are a few suggestions.
1. Turn off all the automatic settings (fleshtone, black level, SVM, etc). These settings will make the picture look worse rather than better. Also, they "minimize" the amount of effect the manual settings will have as you have already noticed. 2. Get yourself a setup disk like AVIA (read about it and other disks on this forum). 3. Run the setup disk and follow the directions. You may wish to watch it once and do the actual setup later or on a different date. There is quite a bit of information to digest, especially for a novice. 4. If you don't want to do this, get an ISF Technician in to properly calibrate and set up your TV. This will take several hours and probably cost $2-300. 5. The PS2 is not a very good DVD player. You should consider a dedicated DVD player, but don't get a cheap one, otherwise you won't have gained anything. You should consider spending at least $200-250.
