sony hdtv set...sound/no picture

I have a sony hdtv set with the three cables connected directly from my scientific atlanta hdtv box. I am getting sound, but no video. Anybody ever have this problem or know the solution? Time Warner Cable of NYC is not helpful

Welcome to the forum.

Three Cables is not enought for sound and video. You need 3 component video cables (Green, Blue, Red) plus the audio (usually digital coax) but could be analog RCA (red & white).

Some TVs also have a "switch" for the HDTV input that requires "wideband" or something like that. Check to make sure. Perhaps you should supply the model of the TV and we can assist.

sony kd34xbr2

My TV is a SONY KD 34xbr2. I had all the coax cables set up with the box to play regular digital tv and all I did was add the three colored video cables for the HDTV. That is why I am surprised that I am getting audio but not video. Thanks for your help.

Someone else will have to help you with that particular model, whether it requires some sort of internal setup to receive HDTV. Perhaps you can check your menu items to see if there is something there regarding receiving HDTV.

Also, make sure you haven't crossed the wires. Red to red, green to green, etc. Sometimes this happens because the backs of sets can be dark and the wires get crossed...

Good Luck, 57U
