Have KV36XBR450--what sat receiver is best...Pr

I have a HD-ready tv--->Sony KV36XBR450... bought it in October and was gonna wait to buy a HD receiver... then was in a TWEETER store in New Haven, CT and say the Olympics (hockey) being shown on my TV and couldn't believe it...

I need to know which is the best receiver to buy? I've been surfing the net reading lots of info on different receivers

I don't mind paying alot- if it means no headaches?

also, should I go w/ the dishnetwork or direct TV? Sounds like through my reading direct TV is the way to go

Any comments appreciated

No easy answer

It sounds as if you are making both the satellite and HDTV decision simultaneously so I will assume that you do not have anything right now and are starting fresh. DISH Network has a receiver called the 6000 that you need if you want HDTV. Its about $499, if you want to get OTA HDTV, you can buy an additional module for the receiver for about $139. DISH broadcasts HBO, Showtime, and a PPV station in HD, and also a CBS if you are elidgable to receive it. DIRECTTV has HBO and HDNET, which is a promo channel that is pretty good. They have a wider selection of receivers that get both satellite and OTA signals, from $500 to $800. With them, you only need one oval dish. Bottom line is they are both pretty close so there is no easy answer. For OTA HDTV, you will also need a descent antenna...

The BEST .... 4DTV/HDD200

The BEST in terms of picture quality and sound is a C-Band 4Dtv satellite tv system.....More SD & HD channels than any satellite tv provider. master broadcasts, very little or no-compressions to degrade the picture.....
The SD programming looks and sounds as good as a DVD......

Also 5 HD channels available.....

Systems from $1500 +.....But definitely worth it!

You get what you pay for with this set-up....just like audio equipment, tv's etc.....
You wouldn't think satellite tv could look so good when compared to the pizza-pan(2nd generation, compressed)....I know...I had one !
