Shame on you!

My wife was going to have a real easy time this Christmas buying me a pair of gloves -- which I REALLY need. Mele Kalikimaka!

But, Noooooooo! You guys had to go ahead and convince me that the solution to our bedroom size problem .... no, not THAT size problem ... is an HDTV front projector and 100" drop down screen.

So let's see how just hard she is going to have to work to make me happy. We have a bedwall, which has the perfect overhead location to set up the projector. The 100" dropdown screen would come down almost exactly 13 feet from the projector, right in front of the drapes at the perfect viewing distance.

I can't think of any reason to ever get out of bed again. I can get a 100% telecommuting job, and already own a bedpan. Aside from buying enough ointment for bedsores, can anyone think of a problem she isn't going to be able to solve here?

Am I forgetting anything (besides figuring out the best location for the cable box, DVD, and XBOX?) I am a little worried about breezes. If we get a cool breeze from the big open windows behind the drapes and screen, is the screen going to swing and make the picture go all squiggly and out of focus?

Don't forget the fridge for beer, the phone to call for pizza and the defibrillator for your heart, once you're too big to leave the room.

I thought I'd get a rise out of someone.

Seriously, I am wondering about the stability of the screen and the image on it. After working so hard to get high def, it would be a shame if a light breeze from an open window anywhere in the room kept pushing the screen out of the focus plane.

Do these motorized screens unroll a flexible fabric that just hangs dependent on gravity to stay straight? Or is there some seriously stiff side edge support that unrolls with the screen and somehow knows it has to firmly stay perfectly straight when unrolled? Is this a valid issue?

If you buy a 'roll down' screen that is intented for HD there should not be a problem. They are usually weighted to keep the screen taught.

There are a number of good manufacturers. Do a Google search for 'High Definition projector screen'.

Personally I use Da-Lite, but mine is a fixed wall mount.
