yeaaahh...and I bought mine from them 12/01....oh well, I still got a bargain, IMHO.
I thought briefly (about two seconds) about taking mine back to save a few bucks later, but hey, mine works great. No bugs. That's worth somethin! OTOH, my dad (age 68) is now ruined. He saw "I,Robot" on ours Christmas night and was blown away...started asking all sortsa tech questions about it....yeah, he's gonna end up with one, too. I just know it.

I never owned a product I would have paid twice the amount for until now, maybe costco had never hooked one up otherwise they might have "Increased" the price!. Had mine a month or so (see gallery) yesterday hooked it to a Samsung t351, ebay $150 bucks with temporary rabbit ears got 4 hd channels. I was totaly blown away with "lost" the greens and skin tones are awesome. and that was using 30" dvi cable. even the sound was in dolby.

Costco Infocus offer
I have looked on the costco website and can't even find them offering the Infocus 4805 for sale, much less at the deal you mentioned. How did you find out about it?

they mention a coupon book that people have been getting, but also mention you dont need the coupon book.. I would just call your local costco and find out whether they will have the deal.

Wow
I am looking to get into this arena, I have a Hitachi 57S700 RPTV and want bigger and better, so I have been prowling around at forums like this one and AVS ( and countless others). I was actually looking at the Z3 and the AE700, as this unit is only 800X600.. I will be watching HDTV as much as possible ( I watch HBOHD and PBS), and I watch all the sports I can in HDTV. HDTV on my Hitachi looks mint. I am trying to get good objective comparisons between this unit and the other 2 I mentioned(Obviously they are LCD/720p units), this unit is $1K lower in price, so I am getting really interested in it, I am just concerned that I am not getting 720P resolution as I would with the others.. Is this unit really as good as I have been reading? Thanks alot folks, m |

I went onto Costco's site, and searched for InFocus..
Search came up empty. I am a member at BJ's, and we have Costco's around here, I will not hesitate to get a $45 membership if this thing is available there for that price( it will probably cost that much to ship it here anyway, and I get the benefit of membership). 1/30-2/6/05 stinks, as I would love to have this for the SB. Do they normally have this in stock? Thanks, m |

I took the Plunge
Thanks to all that have posted here on the many threads, particularly Projectors. You all helped me take the plunge on the InFocus 4805. I did much research and would have kept on, but there comes a time when you say "F- it" and jump on something. I hope for only 2 things; that the less than super high lumen count won't be an issue, and that the display I saw [at Costco where the image from the 4805 sucked particularly compared side by side with an XR-1?], I hope that it was just an ajdustment problem on their part. Looking forward to more info sharing with all you guys.
By the way, I saw the 4805 around the Holidays at Costco, and then it was gone by the end of Jan. Thanks to Tico I was able to pick it up from them(tvauthority).

LOL. Boy did I get a Deal. Went to Costco and picked up the 4805 special. $999 with a 76" pull down screen. They gave me a $100 on-line rebate so the system was $899 plus tax. Now the clincher, they did not have a 76" screen so the manager gave me a 92" screen
that was part of the Infocus SP5000 projector deal that is around $1400. (Sp5000 and 92" screen)It was not on-line, I found the deal in the store here in JAX, FL. and immediately jumped on it. Only checked it out on the wall for 30 minutes and I am very pleased. Still waiting for our new home with Media room to be completed which is by October 1st I am told. So I just continue watch my 61" Toshiba rear projection until then. Oh, I also picked up the 32" Proview LCD for $899 from Costco that is in the bedroom right now and I am very pleased with it also. I am a audio/videophile freak or at least that what my better half keeps telling me. ![]() |

It's an EDTV. For that money, you can't get an HD FP.
If you feed it DVDs or SD, it'll look great, but it ain't HD and won't look HD if fed HD.

No, the 4805 is not HD, it is a 16:9 format DLP in 854x480 resolution, with a six-segment, 4x speed color wheel. But the 4805 has very good contrast, color saturation and scaling (for HD content) is handled exceptionally well for the $$$. IMHO I think it looks better than the Proveiw 32" HDTV, but then the screen is so much larger.
![]() I was looking at the Pan AE700, but with this deal I just couldn't pass it up and the images look great on the 92" screen. And sometime in the future an ae700 may be looming maybe after the 4000 hour bulb burns out and prices drop again. ![]() |
