Radio Shack Double BowTie Modification!

Ok, the best antenna out their for the buck ($17.95) is the radio shack bowtie... It blows away all TURK models, and even some External antennas! Anyways, here is a nice mod that has turned out great results for users over at Avs!

The products you need are the Bowtie : Cat.#: 15-623
and a 300 to 75ohm transformer.

What does the 300 to 75 do?

What is the big difference? Also, can I put the double bowtie on my roof? I have tried it in my house before and I get zero reception. Why does it matter which lead goes where and does this matter on all antenneas?

I've seen other modifications of this particular antenna and there's one thing I don't understand. Why is it necessary to eliminate the 300-ohm lead when you could just hook it up to a
300 to 75-ohm adapter?
