SONY 51WS500 - picture quality

H i,

i just connected my SONY 51 '' widescreen TV, the DVD picutre quality with the componet output is real good , but the satellite picture quality is below average. I am using the S video from my Dish network receiver. any ideas on how to improve this satellite picture quality on the TV.

I already tried.

Flash focus
Different PIc mode settings..

Would a Digital/HDTV receiver hooked up with the satellite recevier help .

Thanx .

Welcome to the forum rtahilia.

One way to improve PQ on new sets is to check out our FAQ section (6th one down on the home page). Especially the post on what to do to a new HDTV...

I have a Toshiba 65HDX82. I connected my directv sat receiver with S-video there was snow in the picture. Then I connected it using RG6 coaxial cable to RF input, the picture is perfect!!. I love it. I assume the TV internal digital filters are doing the magic, which wiill not kick in for S-video connection.

Some people also notice that the composite video connection can be superior to S-Video due to the TV's comb filter doing it's job. This arrangement should be superior to coaxial cable.

SONY 51WS500 - picture quality

I've had mine for a few weeks now.
Overall I love it.
Some channels are better than others.
Try to use the flash focus after tv has been on for 1/2 hour.
Also try changing the picture settings. i.e. contrast, brightness ...
Make a note of where they are before changing.
I usually keep mine on Movie or Pro.
